4 c. chicken or leftover turkey, cut up
1/2 lb. shredded American cheese
4 c. milk
1 1/2 c. of slivered onions, boiled until transparent
6 tbsp. butter
10 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. paprika
Instructions
In a large pot SLOWLY melt butter. While that is being done mix flour, salt, pepper and paprika in a small bowl. When butter is melted, mix in dry mixture quickly at low heat. Then start to add milk 1 cup at a tie. Stir continually (I use a whisk). Wait each time until the sauce thickens. Then add more milk until gone. So not let sauce boil and be careful of sticking on the bottom of the pan. Turn off heat and put in slivers of cheese. Stir until melted. Then add drained onions and turkey. Fold in. Pour into a greased casserole dish. Sprinkle buttered bread crumbs on top and place in a preheated oven (350 degrees) for 20 minutes. Spoon over noodles.
